Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, small kids allowed?

Halloween horror nights

Well it’s almost time for Universal Studios Halloween horror nights! I thought I would discuss the age limits of kids to this event, and what age seems to be too young.

Now officially there is NO age limit in place for Halloween horror nights. You can bring your 2 month old baby to this event if you want to. I have seen people pushing kids around in a stroller that are only 2 to 4 years old.

What Universal Studios does say is that the event may be too intense for young kids and is not recommended for kids under the age of 13. This makes sense to me; I don’t think any kids under 13 should go to this.

SeaWorld Orlando breeding rare Leafy Sea Dragons

SeaWorld breeds leafy sea dragons

I decided to check out the latest news with SeaWorld today. Seems like they are having a bit of success breeding a rare type of Seahorse called the leafy sea dragon.

What’s interesting is that the hatchlings, about 40 of them now, are floating in the big aquarium right in the Manta roller coaster ride. SeaWorld is only the sixth aquarium in the world to successfully breed leafy sea dragons.

These funny looking creatures look like twigs and leaves, great for camouflage in the ocean. They are found only off the southern and eastern coasts of Australia.

Transformers ride coming to Universal Studios Orlando

Universal Studios transformers ride

There is a lot of new construction going on over at Universal Studios these days. They have already added or improved new rides and shows this year. Two big areas of the Universal Studios Florida park (the original one) are currently under construction.

The back part of the park where the Jaws ride was is being transformed into the new expanded Harry Potter land. No nobody has officially said that but trust me, it is. 😀

The other section is a big unused sound-stage building almost right in the center of the park. It sits right behind the Shrek 4-D show. Cranes and other heavy equipment can now be seen there working.

My own Orlando vacation family tips

Orlando family vacations

I talk a lot about the theme parks and give general tips here. But I bet a lot would like to know just what I personally would do if I was on a vacation in Orlando, Florida. Well, this fall my mom and sister will be coming down.

It will be the first time they have come down here together, for my mom it will be her first time in Florida. So I’ve been thinking about what to do and where to go once they are here.

Now they can only stay about a full week, which is about the amount of time many spend on a Orlando vacation. So what do you do in a week for someone who has never been down here before?

Universal Studios Superstar Parade Youtube video

I’ve been meaning to take a video of Universal Studios new summer parade. But since I still have not I figured I would post a good Youtube video of it here. That way you get to see what it’s all about.

The parade is called Universal Studios Superstar Parade, and it is held at the Universal Orlando park, not Islands of Adventure. It’s not a big or long parade but it is unique.

You can see all the characters from the Despicable Me movie, standing and sitting on some very cool looking floats. Plus SpongeBob Square pants, Dora the explorer and many other popular characters.

So take a peek at the video and see how you like it. My laptop got fried by a lightning strike a few days ago so I’m busy putting all my data back together. But I’ll be back up to speed soon! :)

Orlando; The ideal change from family holidays in the UK

Great Orlando Florida holidays

Although everyone automatically thinks of the famous theme parks when they hear the word “Orlando” there is more on offer than you may realize.

Orlando seems to have it all; beautiful weather, a bustling tourism industry and some of the world’s biggest theme parks. There is also plenty to do outside the theme parks, including relaxing family activities and a wealth of art, culture and history to explore. Those used to family holidays in the UK will be blown away with the sheer scale of activity on offer.

Once again it’s almost time for Disney’s Night of Joy event! This contemporary Christian music festival takes place each fall at the Magic Kingdom. This year it will be two nights, September 7th and 8th on a Friday and Saturday.

There is a great lineup this year with big name stars, playing everything from pop, rock and gospel. The show times each night will be from 7:30 PM to 1:00 AM.

Please keep in mind that this is a special event, meaning that you have to purchase tickets for each night to see it. Normal day time theme park tickets do NOT allow you to see the shows.
