Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2012 haunted houses, shows, times

Universal Studios Halloween horror nights 2012

Alrighty folks, it’s time for my big Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2012 article! This marks the 22nd year of Halloween Horror nights, and it gets better each year, for the most part.

Like last year the nights consist of 3 basic components. The haunted houses, street freaks and the live shows. This year they have 7 haunted houses, 6 areas with different freaks running around and 2 live shows.

Now Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is a special event, which means that a normal theme park ticket does NOT include this. You have to purchase a separate ticket for this. Gates open at 6:30 PM each night.

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights, small kids allowed?

Halloween horror nights

Well it’s almost time for Universal Studios Halloween horror nights! I thought I would discuss the age limits of kids to this event, and what age seems to be too young.

Now officially there is NO age limit in place for Halloween horror nights. You can bring your 2 month old baby to this event if you want to. I have seen people pushing kids around in a stroller that are only 2 to 4 years old.

What Universal Studios does say is that the event may be too intense for young kids and is not recommended for kids under the age of 13. This makes sense to me; I don’t think any kids under 13 should go to this.

Transformers ride coming to Universal Studios Orlando

Universal Studios transformers ride

There is a lot of new construction going on over at Universal Studios these days. They have already added or improved new rides and shows this year. Two big areas of the Universal Studios Florida park (the original one) are currently under construction.

The back part of the park where the Jaws ride was is being transformed into the new expanded Harry Potter land. No nobody has officially said that but trust me, it is. 😀

The other section is a big unused sound-stage building almost right in the center of the park. It sits right behind the Shrek 4-D show. Cranes and other heavy equipment can now be seen there working.

Universal Studios Superstar Parade Youtube video

I’ve been meaning to take a video of Universal Studios new summer parade. But since I still have not I figured I would post a good Youtube video of it here. That way you get to see what it’s all about.

The parade is called Universal Studios Superstar Parade, and it is held at the Universal Orlando park, not Islands of Adventure. It’s not a big or long parade but it is unique.

You can see all the characters from the Despicable Me movie, standing and sitting on some very cool looking floats. Plus SpongeBob Square pants, Dora the explorer and many other popular characters.

So take a peek at the video and see how you like it. My laptop got fried by a lightning strike a few days ago so I’m busy putting all my data back together. But I’ll be back up to speed soon! :)

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Cafe restaurant at Universal Studios review

Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville at Universal Studios

I don’t normally eat out too much, and when I do it’s almost never a place in or around a theme park. But one place I do enjoy going to a lot is the Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurant at Universal Studios.

Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville Cafe is a Caribbean restaurant where guests can relax and have a good meal in a fabulous tropical setting. Many people who went here claim that this is the best place to eat at Universal Orlando Citiwalk!

The venue features several themed areas, as well as a tiki bar, a seaplane, and a play area for kids. Guest can spend time with their friends and attend special events in the The Porch of Indecision – the outdoor dining area.

Universal Studios Men in black alien attack ride review

Universal Studios men in black ride review

With the latest Men In Black movie out a short while ago, I thought I’d do a ride review on the one at Universal Orlando. Men in Black: Alien Attack is one of the most popular attractions at Universal Studios Florida.

While this laser-shooting dark ride may feel dated to some guests, it still has millions of fans worldwide. This thrilling ride is based on the movie with the same name and features 120 different alien species and six-seat vehicles equipped with laser guns and a gaming system that records your score.

This high-tech ride is ideal for those who are not afraid to spin in circles while shooting aliens and monsters. Men in Black: Alien Attack provides some interactive fun for people of all ages.

Well it looks like Universal Studios will be adding another new hotel resort on their property soon. The Cabana Bay Beach Resort hotel is what it will be called, with 1,800 rooms including 900 family suites.

This will be the fourth hotel Universal Studios has on their Orlando property, all part of the Loews hotels and resorts line. Once built it will become the largest hotel at Universal.

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights tickets out now for 2012!

Universal Studios halloween horror nights tickets for 2012

Very soon I will make a post outlining this years 2012 Universal Studios Halloween Horror nights events. But for now let me just announce that you can already buy tickets for this years horror-fest.

I must say however that the pricing structure seems rather complex. They must make a hell of a lot off this event to put so many different prices and nights together.

Basically they have an all around general admission ticket for the horror nights for $88.99. Then they have tickets good for both a full day in the park plus the nighttime horror nights events.

Universal Studios Summer Concert Series shows 2012

Universal Studios summer concert series 2012

As always I’m a bit late with some event news, but better late than never right! I wanted to let you know about this years Universal Studios summer concert series bands and shows for 2012.

For those who don’t know what it is, Universal has top bands that play each Saturday night during the peak summer months. You do NOT need a special ticket to see them, it’s included with your normal theme park ticket.

However the bands always play in the Music Plaza stage, which is located in the Universal Orlando park, the “old” park. So if you buy tickets to get into that park your covered.

Disney, Universal raise ticket prices again

Theme park tickets rasied again

One thing that I should include in my annual events section but don’t is the annual theme park ticket price raises. Just a day or two ago Universal Studios for the first time raised their ticket prices before Disney.

Normally they follow Disney once they raise ticket prices. Does that mean they are now equal to them, or as bad? Anyways yes, both Disney and Universal Studios have raised their base price ticket cost plus a few other types of tickets.

The cost now of an adult one-day, one-park ticket to one of the two Universal Studios parks is now $88.00. A few of the other types of tickets also jumped a bit at Universal.
