The latest and biggest news over at SeaWorld Orlando is that they are in the process of making a new “land” over there. SeaWorld’s Antarctica ‘realm’ land will be themed as a visit to Antarctica, complete with penguins!
The making of a themed “land” inside SeaWorld Orlando is a bit different for them. Right now they do have different “sections” of the park for different types of animals and marine life.
But the new Antarctica Realm land seems to be the first where a whole part of the park will immerse the guest totally into a new land, like the Harry Potter land at Universal.
Billed as the “coldest theme-park attraction in the world,” it will take guests among a colony of penguins whose habitat must stay in the low 30s Fahrenheit. As someone who moved to Florida to get away from the cold that does NOT sound like fun!
But I suppose it will be okay for the short time your in there. The new Antarctica Realm land will feature a big central ride called ‘Empire of the Penguin’ which sounds fun and interesting.
It also will have a restaurant, penguins exhibit and gift shop. Let me guess, the gift shop will be at the end of the ride, right!?
You will be able to get very close to several different types of penguins and Antarctica birds in the exhibit area, which should be lots of fun for kids and adults alike.
Getting back to the Empire of the Penguin ride. Guest will be in 8 person boats by the looks of it, guided by a penguin as you go through the dangers and beauty of the Antarctic.
You can select several levels of intensity and the ride will be different each time you go on it. Rumor has it that it will be a track-less ride, at least through part of it.
It sounds like a combination of water ride and roller coaster which should be cool. But getting wet in a cold area does not sound fun to me! We will just have to wait and see when more details come out.
So get ready for the new SeaWorld Orlando’s Antarctica Realm land opening next year! I’ll give updates on it when I get more information. Sounds like a fun new land and one that should be a hit.
