Summer tips for your Florida vacation

Summer heat tips for Florida vacation

Even though it’s almost the end of July, August is just as hot here in Florida. It’s been a very hot summer here in Orlando, with not enough rain. Most visitors are not use to how direct and humid the weather is here.

Most people are surprised to see how easy they get a sunburn down here. That Florida sun can really make you red in only 20 minutes. Imagine spending an afternoon at the beach or water park.

The next day you’ll be one big red mark! So make sure you really slather on that high index sunscreen all over your body. That includes your face and even scalp if your thin up there.

Re-apply often if your in the water or at a water park. If your going to a theme park, wear light colored t shirts or light weight clothing that covers your arms if you can stand it.

Jeans are very hot to wear in the humid weather of Florida. The humidity really does make it feel much hotter and makes your body sweat a great deal. So keep a bottle of water on hand and drink often.

Waiting in lines to theme park rides is another pain. Most have fans going with water spray to kelp keep you cool. But some spots are just really hot with all the heat from people around you.

Those little bottles that hold water and have a fan that you can point in your face do help, so buy one of those for your kids and yourself if you need to cool off. You can find them for sale everywhere at theme parks!

Going on a water ride can help you cool off, but if your wearing socks and/or sneakers take them off and put them in the bins you can find to keep them dry. Nothing feels worst than squishing around with wet, hot feet on that hot ground!

So remember to put on plenty of sun block, get in the shade when you can, drink lots of water, wear light and light colored clothing and take it easy. The sun and humidity is worst here than where most visitors come from, so it’s easy to overdo it.
