There is a small but lively swing dancing scene in Orlando. Unfortunately if you’re vacationing on the Disneyland side of Orlando, you’ll find you’re on totally the wrong side of town – all the swing venues are on the East side, and public transport is pretty much non-existent. So if you don’t want to miss out on dancing during your vacation, your best bet is to rent a car.
The main venues:
Swing Era Productions has a hop every 2nd and 4th Saturday at the Whirl & Twirl Dance Club (if you’ve visited Orlando before, these are the same dances that were previously hosted by Rob and Dawn Shrewsbury).
The Orlando Swing Band plays at the Beardall Center on the 4th Wednesday of every month.
The collegiate swing club The Swing Knights have Friday night dances.
