Described as the most spectacular light display at Walt Disney World, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights will get you into the holiday spirit. This one-of-a-kind show began as a father’s Christmas gift to his daughter.
There are over five million lights in hundreds of different colors as well as holiday music, animated displays, fun characters, and custom-made light sculptures. It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before. You don’t want to miss this show!
How It All Started
This amazing display of Christmas lights was created by Jennings Osborne, a businessman from Arkansas. He wanted to offer his six-year-old daughter a unique gift. The collection of lights grew over time, so the Osborne family decided to share it with others. Millions of glittering lights can now be seen at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The lights “dance” by blinking in time to music.
The light display has been moved at Walt Disney Studios in 1995. Today it features 66 snow machines, 43 hidden Mickeys, and 130 angels. It takes 21,000 hours to prepare the scene and install these dazzling lights.
A number of upgrades have taken place over the years. The show is now lit by LED lighting, featuring three-dimensional and motion-based displays. Some of the original creations can still be seen at the park.
Immerse Yourself in a Sea of Light
This year, The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights takes places from November 8 to January 5. The Streets of America at Walt Disney World are covered with brightly colored lights that dance to holiday songs. There are over 10 miles of LED rope lights. Visitors can go to the cafes and pubs in the area to enjoy some hot cocoa, spiced eggnog, glazed almonds and other holiday treats.
Brilliant multi-colored lights wrap the trees and buildings. All of them are synchronized to beautiful Christmas music. The lights are turned on each night. It’s the most incredible light display you’ll ever see!
If you want to celebrate Christmas in a magical way, you should definitely come here and enjoy the show. The 2013 Osborne lights song list includes “Winter Wonderland,” “Christmas Is Starting Now,” “Feliz Navidad,” and “Jingle Bells.”
Once you get here, the real challenge is to avoid the crowds and take some pictures. This is the best time and place for taking photos at Walt Disney World. The lights will be turned on at 6PM every night.
