There are lots of different reasons why people travel to Florida, some people go for the sunshine, some for the magic of Disney and some to experience the nature and wildlife, the fishing opportunities and sometimes even just to find a really good steak.
However, there are those who head there for the thrills and scares that can only come from experiencing some of the best rides in the world. So what does Orlando have in store for the self-proclaimed adrenaline junky?
Here are the five rides that we think will give even the biggest thrill seekers a run for their money.
MANTA at Seaworld
Manta at Seaworld is one of those rides for people who think they have seen it all. The steel flying rollercoaster simulates the movements of the Manta Ray.
First of all you are safely strapped into the seats then tipped to a 90 degree angle before being flown around the track at speeds that reach around 70km/hr. The Moment to look out for on Manta is the strange sensation when you take the loop which is unlike any other you are likely to have experiences before.
SHEIKRA at Busch Gardens
Located about an hour away from Orlando in Tampa, Sheikra at Busch Gardens is one of the most adrenaline pumping rides in the area. The floorless coaster takes you up to heights of 200 metres before hanging you at a 90 degree angle for a few terrifying moments before a vertical drop plunges you downwards.
There is also a loop and a second vertical drop into an underground tunnel. It really is a ride that keeps you guessing until the very end.
THE INCREDIBLE HULK at Universal Islands of Adventure
Everyone’s favourite big, green monster really comes to life in this crazy speed-fest of a roller coaster. The Incredible Hulk ride shoots you from a tunnel, going from 0-40mph in just two seconds with speeds reaching 67 mph and heights of 150ft.
This ride is normally the first big ride that people get to on arrival at the park and it is probably the best way to get the adrenaline pumping for the rest of the day!
SKYCOASTER at Fun Spot Attractions
In terms of seeking scary attractions, they don’t get much scarier than the Skycoaster located in the Old Town area of Kissimmee. The Skycoaster simulates the thrills of hang-gliding and skydiving.
You are strapped into a fabric mechanism and then hoisted up to a height of 300 ft making it the tallest ride of its kind in the world. The flyers are then released and free fall until the rope pulls tight at which point they are left swinging over the water until eventually coming to a stop. This is definitely not one for the feint hearted but well worth it if you are brave enough.
HOLLYWOOD RIP-RIDE ROCKIT at Universal Studios
The Rip Ride Rockit at Universal has one of the scariest ascents of any ride. Tipped back in your seat you are taken up at a ninety degree angle towards the peak. Where you then zoom off at break neck speeds around the record breaking track including the loop that doesn’t quite tip you all the way upside down.
One of the best things about this ride is that you get to choose a song which will be played into your ears as you fly round the course. And once you survive the ride you get to watch the video of the journey!
