Alrighty folks, it’s time for my big Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2012 article! This marks the 22nd year of Halloween Horror nights, and it gets better each year, for the most part.
Like last year the nights consist of 3 basic components. The haunted houses, street freaks and the live shows. This year they have 7 haunted houses, 6 areas with different freaks running around and 2 live shows.
Now Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights is a special event, which means that a normal theme park ticket does NOT include this. You have to purchase a separate ticket for this. Gates open at 6:30 PM each night.
The nights for Halloween Horror Nights this year is as follows:
Sept. 21, 22, 27, 28, 29, 30
Oct. 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19,
20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 & 31
Basically each Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the last 3 Wednesdays in October. You are NOT allowed to wear a costume! So don’t wear one or you will not be let in. There is no age limit but it’s NOT recommended for ages under 13.
Alcohol is served during the event if you want any. Halloween Horror Nights is held in the Universal Studios Orlando park, NOT the Islands of Adventure one. Most rides will be going if you want to get some riding in.
So let’s check out a summary of what you can expect this year, starting with the haunted houses shall we!? 😀
Haunted Houses
AMC The Walking Dead, Dead Inside
This haunted house has many settings right from the hit TV series “The Walking Dead”. Walking zombies lunge and pop out at you, with plenty of other creepy things that go bump in the night. Don’t let them catch you!
Silent Hill
Based on the popular video game, this house has falling ash with the laws of physics no longer applying. Brace yourself for creatures, ghost and zombie nurses. I’m looking forward to the zombie nurses!
Penn and Teller, Newkd Vegas
Something really new this year, it was designed by the famous magic and humor duo Penn & Teller from Las Vegas. Supposedly their latest trick went wrong and they made a nuclear explosion happen in Vegas. See what happens when radioactivity hits the folks and pets there!
Alice Cooper, Welcome to my Nightmare
Everyone knows the rock star Alice Cooper is a maniac. Take a tour through this haunted house filled with freaks and frights from the sadistic mind of the great Alice Cooper!
Universal’s House of Horror
It’s a bit hard to say what this haunted house is. But my guess is that it’s a collection of the best props and horror sets of Halloween horror nights gone by. They had this last year and it was my favorite house!
Gothic
The great Catedral de Caementum Animus is undergoing some refurbishments. But at night the stone gargoyles come alive to protect their place from intruders,,, that means you!
Dead End
Everyone believes that the old Hartford Mansion is haunted and the scene of many horrific happenings. Take a peek inside and find out if they were right!
Street Freaks
Outside the haunted houses where you have to walk to get to the other ones are areas filled with scary creatures you have to make your way through. Each area has different types of freaks.
Now just so you know, they will not, or should not anyways, actually touch you. Nor will they chase you except for a step or two. Universal hates to have guest fall down and get hurt and sue, it’s soooo frightening! Here’s what to expect:
Vampires
Not much to say about these. This area will have thirsty vampires lurking in the dark, waiting for you to cross their path!
Beast
Various types of scary beast will be in this area, following you around,,,, especially if your a hot looking babe!
Warriors
Brought back from the dead after battle, these zombie-like warriors seek their revenge.
Prisoners
A women’s prison is burned down scorching the inmates alive. But now they live again, chainsaws in hand, ready to attack! Babes with chainsaws huh, kinky!
Traditionals
Finally this area will have your normal ghost, goblins and other creatures of the night. Maybe a clown or two also!
Live shows
Next we have the two live shows. Each one will have several shows each night. See show times once you get there. This year there will be:
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Halloween Adventure
I really don’t know why they keep reviving this one. It’s based on a movie years ago about two bone head teens that are wannabe rockers. I saw the show last year and it was the most stupidest, unfunny show I ever saw,,,, really. See it at your own risk.
20 Penny Circus, Fully Exposed
This show is new and I really have no idea what it will be like. It just says it’s for “Magic For People With Questionable Taste”. Scary clowns, magic and weird humor is what I imagine.
So there you have it, this years Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights 2012! Ticket prices vary depending on what nights you go and the dates. Keep in mind it is intense and scary, it’s not your cheesy high school Halloween show.
Personally I’ve been to enough to not care anymore. But my sister will be down this year so I must take her to that. My enjoyment will be seeing her getting scared all night! 😀
