Universal Studios will be coming out with a lot of new things this spring. Most of them will be in the Universal Studios park, not Islands of Adventure. They have enough new things in that park and need to add more to the other park.
One thing that will be very cool is the first daily parade at Universal Studios. Called “Universal’s Superstar Parade” it will feature very large floats and characters from the Universal movies and shows.
Like characters from the Despicable Me movie, “Hop,” “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “Dora the Explorer”. Plus lots of other street performers and dancers. The parade will stop several times to interact with the crowd.
It will run every day and all year as of now once it starts this spring. Showtimes will be posted in the park.
Also in the Universal Studios park will be a new “Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Moments” show at night. This will be a history of Universal Pictures projected on 30 foot by 30 foot waterfall curtains in the lagoon.
There will be colored fountains, small fireworks and lasers and narration by actor Morgan Freeman. (no not in person, in a recording). Exact times will be announced.
Next will be a new ride, once again in the Universal Studios park. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem is the name of the new ride and will be loosely based on the Despicable Me movie that came out in 2010.
Also next month the two new miniature golf courses right next to the people mover at the entrance of CityWalk will finally be open. These look pretty cool and worth a few plays.
So as you can see they have a lot of neat new things going on for this spring and summer. It will be interesting to see the new shows and attractions and see how good they are. Check them out when you get the chance!
