Soon the 4th of July 2011 will be here, and everyone wants to know what the theme parks will be doing to celebrate! So what about Universal Studios Orlando 4th of July fireworks and shows?
Well to be honest Universal Studios does not do much extra for the 4th of July. There are no fireworks over at Islands of Adventure. Nor are there any fireworks at CityWalk, the nightclub area.
However they will be putting on a bigger fourth of July fireworks show over at Universal Studios Orlando, the “old” park. It’s part of their Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular show they hold each night during the summer.
So just what is the Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular show? It’s a cool high-tech lagoon show that uses four story tall “domes” that are 360-degree projection “cinespheres,” showing favorite outtakes of movies of the past.
Along with those they use lasers, music and fireworks for a really cool show. For this years 4th of July it will have a special, high-tech, patriotic finale, complete with a dazzling fireworks display.
You also can hear live music from the O’Jays as they perform before and during the show. The big Universal 360: A Cinesphere Spectacular show starts at 10:00 PM and is included with regular park admission.
So that’s what’s going on with the Universal Studios Orlando 4th of July fireworks and shows for 2011 this year! After the show spend some time at CityWalk dancing the night away. Have fun! 
Actually I just called and there are NO FIREWORKS at Universal / IOA / or CityWalk this year. They told me that a new apartment complex recently went up that is too close to the park, so they are no longer able to do fireworks. Again NO FIREWORKS WILL BE SHOWN AT UNIVERSAL / IOA / or CITYWALK this July 4, 2011.
Hi Jeff, thanks for the info. Unless I’m mistaken your partly right. It is true that the park now closes at 9:00 PM on July 4th, not at 10:00 PM as they had stated earlier.
However they still show that their Cinesphere Spectacular show will still be playing on most nights during the summer, including July 4th.
That show is a combination of lasers, special effects and a few low-key fireworks. It may very well be that they will not have a bigger fireworks show on July 4th.
So they will still have the show, but it will not have much in the way of fireworks, as you said. I did hear about those new apartments, I have no idea why they built them so close to the park!
Anyway thanks for letting us know Jeff, sounds like if you want to see real fireworks this July 4th, Universal Studios is not the place to go.
