Welcome to Springfield in Orlando, Florida

Springfield from the Simpsons

Fans of The Simpsons can now enter the once fictional and animated world of Springfield at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. The life-size home town of one of TV’s most loved families of all time, The Simpsons, will be serving up characters and previously only fictitious delights such as Duff Beer.

What is there to do?
Well as this is only the first stage of the developments for this attraction, visitors can get their thrills on the existing Simpson Ride. The ride involves a visit to Krusty the Clown’s low-budget take on a theme park called Krustyland. Guests experience his vision of theme park fun along with Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge and Maggie. They’re in for a Krusty time.

However, as The Simpsons attraction expands throughout the year, fans will also be able to experience a new ride based on the show’s aliens. The ride will be called Kang & Kodos Twirl ‘n’ Hurl, which gives a little insight into what to expect. Perhaps fans shouldn’t try this one on a full stomach.

Whist wandering the streets of Springfield, visitors may bump into characters from the show. Perhaps these will include mischievous Bart, high-brow Lisa, loveable dufus Homer, long suffering Marge, adorable Maggie, Santa’s Little Helper, Moe, Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Bob and even Homer’s mate, Barney Gumble.

Where can we grab a beer and a burger?
Visitors can explore the haunts made famous by this long-running cartoon series such as Moe’s Tavern and Krusty Burger. They will also find the Cletus Chicken Shack, Luigi’s Pizzas and the Frying Dutchman on its Fast Food Boulevard.

Stop for a Duff Beer, a Duff Light or a non-alcoholic Flaming Moe at Moe’s Tavern, but don’t worry Moe is not tending the bar. The Flaming Moe is just orange soda, but is given its theatrical effect of bubbles and smoke by way of dry ice in a compartment hidden at the bottom of the glass. Definitely one to try.

Those feeling a little peckish can fill their boots with either a Krusty Burger, a Ribwich or a Clogger at Krusty Burger. A Chicken and Waffle Sandwich, Chicken Thumbs or Chicken Arms at the Cletus Chicken Shack and Luigi’s serves up pizza. The Frying Dutchman offers a sea-focused menu including Clam Chowd-arr, Basket O’ Shrimp, Bait or Calamari and Battered and Plattered Fish. And if that’s not enough, giant iced donuts are available from Lard Lad Donuts.

Coming soon to Springfield
As well as the Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl ride, Duff Gardens will appear towards the end of June along with other waterfront venues as part of the attraction’s expansion.
